THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 106 UNTIL 4 AM CDT TUESDAY WHICH REPLACES A PORTION OF TORNADO WATCH 103. THE NEW WATCH IS VALID FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN IOWA THE NEW WATCH INCLUDES 4 COUNTIES IN NORTH CENTRAL IOWA MITCHELL IN NORTHEAST IOWA ALLAMAKEE HOWARD WINNESHIEK IN MINNESOTA THE NEW WATCH INCLUDES 3 COUNTIES IN SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA FILLMORE HOUSTON WINONA IN WISCONSIN THE NEW WATCH INCLUDES 7 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL WISCONSIN ADAMS JUNEAU IN SOUTHWEST WISCONSIN CRAWFORD RICHLAND VERNON IN WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN LA CROSSE MONROE THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CALEDONIA, CRESCO, DECORAH, FRIENDSHIP, LA CROSSE, MAUSTON, OSAGE, PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, PRESTON, RICHLAND CENTER, SPARTA, TOMAH, VIROQUA, WAUKON, AND WINONA.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
Where: Portions of central, southwest, and west central Wisconsin, including the following counties, in central Wisconsin, Adams, Clark and Juneau. In southwest Wisconsin, Richland and Vernon. In west central Wisconsin, Buffalo, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe and Trempealeau.
When: Until 7 AM CDT Tuesday.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Description

At 940 PM CDT, radar indicated an area of strong thunderstorms from near Sparta to Necedah to Plainfield, moving east at 20 mph.
Hazard: Nickel size hail.
Source: Numerous reports from the public of hail to nickels.
Impact: Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include Tomah, Necedah, Fort Mc Coy, New Rome, Strongs Prairie, Big Flats, Ridgeville, Kelly, Cutler, Oakdale, Colburn, Wyeville, New Miner, Highways 13 And 21, The Necedah Wildlife Refuge, County Roads G And O, Valley Junction, Mill Bluff State Park, Shennington, and County Roads C And G.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for central and west central Wisconsin. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 400 AM CDT for central and west central Wisconsin.
