THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 103 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN MINNESOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 12 COUNTIES IN SOUTH CENTRAL MINNESOTA BLUE EARTH BROWN FARIBAULT FREEBORN LE SUEUR MARTIN NICOLLET RICE STEELE WASECA WATONWAN IN SOUTHEAST MINNESOTA GOODHUE IN WISCONSIN THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN WEST CENTRAL WISCONSIN CHIPPEWA DUNN EAU CLAIRE PEPIN PIERCE THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ALBERT LEA, BLUE EARTH, CHIPPEWA FALLS, DURAND, EAU CLAIRE, FAIRMONT, FARIBAULT, LE SUEUR, MANKATO, MENOMONIE, NEW ULM, OWATONNA, RED WING, RIVER FALLS, ST JAMES, ST PETER, AND WASECA.

Description

At 518 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Durand, or 17 miles south of Menomonie, moving northeast at 25 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Source: Trained spotters reported 1 inch hail in Durand WI.
Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Durand, Downsville, Rock Falls and Caryville.

Action Recommandée

Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and has produced large hail. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT Monday for a portion of west central Wisconsin.
