Rain will change over to snow between 7pm and 10pm this evening across the area. The snow could come down heavily for a few hours before ended between midnight and 3am. With surface temperatures right around the freezing mark and wet surfaces, the initial snow may melt. However, if snow were to come down heavy enough, it may overwhelm the wet/warm ground and accumulate quickly. There is a 20-40 percent chance that snow amounts could exceed 3 inches and conditions will be monitored closely in case a winter weather advisory is needed.
