THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 245 IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CDT WEDNESDAY FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN TEXAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 15 COUNTIES IN SOUTH TEXAS ARANSAS BEE CALHOUN DUVAL GOLIAD JIM WELLS KLEBERG LA SALLE LIVE OAK MCMULLEN NUECES REFUGIO SAN PATRICIO VICTORIA WEBB THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ALICE, ARANSAS PASS, BEEVILLE, BENAVIDES, CALLIHAM, CORPUS CHRISTI, COTULLA, CROSS, FLOUR BLUFF, FREER, FULTON, GEORGE WEST, GOLIAD, HOLIDAY BEACH, INGLESIDE, KINGSVILLE, LAREDO, LOMA ALTA, LOYOLA BEACH, MAGNOLIA BEACH, MATHIS, ORANGE GROVE, PORT LAVACA, PORTLAND, REALITOS, REFUGIO, RICARDO, RIVIERA, ROCKPORT, SAN DIEGO, SINTON, TAFT, THREE RIVERS, TILDEN, TYNAN, VICTORIA, AND WOODSBORO.

Description

At 127 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Tivoli to near Holiday Beach to near Copano Village. Movement was east at 20 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include Port Lavaca, Rockport, Seadrift, Port Oconnor, McFaddin, Lamar, Aransas Pass, Bayside, Quintana, Alamo Beach, Palm Harbor, Indianola, Key Allegro, Magnolia Beach, Long Mott, Copano Village, Green Lake, Holiday Beach, Matagorda Island State Park, and Tivoli. This includes the following highway
S: US Highway 77 between mile markers 594 and 606. US Highway 87 between mile markers 834 and 840.

Action Recommandée

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 600 AM CDT for south central and south Texas.

At 200 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Edroy to near Clarkwood to near Driscoll, moving east at 50 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Corpus Christi, Kingsville, Portland, Robstown, Rockport, Sinton, Port Aransas, Taft, Driscoll, Corpus Christi International Airport, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, Bishop, Odem, Gregory, St. Paul, Ingleside On The Bay, Bayside, Palm Harbor, and Corpus Christi North Beach. This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 37 between mile markers 1 and 27. US Highway 181 between mile markers 618 and 648. US Highway 77 between mile markers 638 and 690.

Action Recommandée

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
