Description

What: Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 125F degrees expected.
Where: Coastal Cameron, Coastal Kenedy, Coastal Willacy, Inland Cameron, Inland Kenedy, Inland Willacy, Northern Hidalgo, Southern Hidalgo, and Starr Counties.
When: From 11 AM to 8 PM CDT Thursday.
Impacts: Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.

Extreme Heat Watch

Description

What: For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 124 expected. For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 120 possible.
Where: All of Deep South Texas, excepting the barrier islands
When: For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM CDT this evening. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Friday morning through Friday evening.
Impacts: Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
Additional Details: While overnight heat indices will not meet Extreme Heat Warning or Heat Advisory criteria, there will be little relief from the heat. Heat indices are expected to remain above 90 degrees tonight. Continue to stay hydrated, use air conditioning when possible (or stay with a friend or family member who has air conditioning), and check on those who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
