The National Weather Service has issued Severe Thunderstorm Watch 246 in effect until 5 AM CDT Wednesday for the following areas In Texas this watch includes 9 counties In south central Texas Jackson In southeast Texas Austin Brazoria Colorado Fort Bend Matagorda Waller Washington Wharton This includes the cities of Alvin, Angleton, Bay City, Bellville, Brenham, Brookshire, Clute, Columbus, Eagle Lake, Edna, El Campo, First Colony, Freeport, Ganado, Hempstead, Lake Jackson, Mission Bend, Missouri City, Palacios, Pearland, Pecan Grove, Prairie View, Rosenberg, Sealy, Sugar Land, Waller, Weimar, and Wharton.

Description

At 314 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Clear Lake to near Surfside Beach to 17 miles east of Port Oconnor. Movement was southeast at 45 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include Southern Pasadena, League City, Galveston Causeway, Galveston Island West End, Texas City, Matagorda, Friendswood, Lake Jackson, Alvin, Angleton, Dickinson, La Marque, Santa Fe, Freeport, southern Seabrook, Clute, Webster, Hitchcock, Kemah, and Surfside Beach.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 500 AM CDT for southeastern Texas.
