Description

At 901 PM CDT/801 PM MDT/, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 11 miles northwest of Maljamar to 21 miles northeast of Loving to 16 miles west of Orla. Movement was east at 25 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and half inch hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include Carlsbad, Loving, Avalon, Maljamar, Malaga, Caprock, Carlsbad North, Red Bluff Reservoir, Orla, Whites City, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Lea County Zip Franklin Memorial Airport, Loco Hills, Otis, Cavern City Air Terminal, Living Desert State Park, Halfway, Lake Avalon, and Red Bluff.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
