What: Southwest winds 30 to 50 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
Where: Jefferson County.
When: Until 1 AM EST Tuesday.
Impacts: Strong winds will blow down trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Shallow rooted trees in a saturated ground will be more susceptible to falling. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.

What: For the Winter Weather Advisory, freezing rain expected. Additional ice accumulations of a few hundredths of an inch. For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 3 feet. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph creating blowing and drifting snow along with whiteout conditions at times.
Where: Jefferson county. Ice accumulation this morning far northern part of the county and Thousand Islands. Greatest snow accumulation expected south of Watertown and Fort Drum.
When: For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 10 AM EST this morning. For the Winter Storm Warning, from 4 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Saturday.
Impacts: Slippery conditions are expected this morning across far northern Jefferson county and the Thousand Islands. Whiteout conditions are expected starting this afternoon and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact travel through the week.
Additional Details: Lake effect snow is expected oscillate several times downwind of Lake Ontario this week. Forecast snowfall amounts could be much higher where lake bands persist during this long duration event. The strongest winds will be today and tonight.
Widespread accumulating snow will create dangerous travel conditions. Submit snow reports through our website or social media. Periods of snow will result in snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Slow down and use caution while driving.
