Description

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Mississippi Big Black River At West affecting Holmes and Attala Counties.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Big Black River at West.
When: Until tomorrow evening.
Impacts: At 17.0 feet, Several thousand acres of agricultural and lowland become inundated.
Additional Details: - At 7:45 AM CST Saturday the stage was 16.3 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Description

What: For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 16 this afternoon. For the Cold Weather Advisory, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 degrees are expected. Lows will be in the teens tonight.
Where: Portions of southeast Arkansas, northeast Louisiana, and central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, south central, southeast, southwest, and west central Mississippi.
When: For the Extreme Cold Warning, until 6 PM CST this evening. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 6 PM this evening to noon CST Sunday.
Impacts: An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. Very cold wind chills and temperatures can lead to frostbite and hypothermia, especially with prolonged exposure and if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures and wind chills. Extensive power outages and snow and ice cover persist from previous ice storm. This dangerous cold will only exacerbate the impacts felt in those affected areas.
Additional Details: Strong winds gusting to around 30 mph will result in even lower wind chills at times today. This could complicate remaining power restoration efforts.
