SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 62 REMAINS VALID UNTIL 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KENTUCKY THIS WATCH INCLUDES 14 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL KENTUCKY ELLIOTT IN NORTHEAST KENTUCKY JOHNSON MARTIN IN SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY BELL BREATHITT FLOYD HARLAN KNOTT LESLIE LETCHER MAGOFFIN MORGAN PERRY PIKE THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF COAL RUN, CUMBERLAND, ELKHORN CITY, HARLAN, HAZARD, HINDMAN, HYDEN, INEZ, JACKSON, JENKINS, MIDDLESBORO, PAINTSVILLE, PIKEVILLE, PINEVILLE, PIPPA PASSES, PRESTONSBURG, SALYERSVILLE, SANDY HOOK, SOUTH WILLIAMSON, WEST LIBERTY, WHEELWRIGHT, AND WHITESBURG.

Description

What: South winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 45 mph expected.
Where: Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky.
When: From midnight tonight to 8 AM EDT Monday.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Action Recommandée

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Description

At 442 AM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Fishtrap Lake, or near Pikeville, moving east at 40 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Kimper, Fedscreek, Phelps, Paw Paw and Argo.

Action Recommandée

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This storm may cause serious injury and significant property damage.
