Description

Warm temperatures, low humidity and breezy southwest winds will lead to critical fire weather conditions over portions of the area this afternoon, mainly west of Highway 83 and south of Interstate 70 where a Red Flag Warning is in effect. A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect on Monday for Greeley and Wichita counties in Kansas.
Affected Area: Fire Weather Zones 013 Sherman, 014 Thomas, 027 Wallace, 028 Logan, 253 Kit Carson and 254 Cheyenne CO.
Timing: From noon MDT /1 PM CDT/ today to 9 PM MDT /10 PM CDT/ this evening.
Winds: Southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
Relative Humidity: As low as 10 to 15 percent.
Impacts: Unpredictable fire behavior. Any fires that develop may rapidly grow and spread out of control.

Comply with burn bans and regulations. Avoid driving on dry grass or brush. Maintain vehicle brakes and tires and secure tow chains to avoid dragging. Never toss lit cigarettes onto the ground.
