THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 109 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN ILLINOIS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST ILLINOIS CARROLL JO DAVIESS ROCK ISLAND STEPHENSON WHITESIDE IN IOWA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 15 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL IOWA BENTON CEDAR CLINTON IOWA JACKSON JOHNSON JONES LINN MUSCATINE SCOTT IN NORTHEAST IOWA BUCHANAN DELAWARE DUBUQUE IN SOUTHEAST IOWA KEOKUK WASHINGTON THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ANAMOSA, BETTENDORF, CEDAR RAPIDS, CLINTON, CREDIT ISLAND, DAVENPORT, DUBUQUE, FREEPORT, GALENA, INDEPENDENCE, IOWA CITY, MANCHESTER, MAQUOKETA, MARENGO, MOLINE, MOUNT CARROLL, MUSCATINE, ROCK ISLAND, SIGOURNEY, STERLING, TIPTON, VINTON, AND WASHINGTON.

Description

The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Iowa Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S affecting Scott and Clinton Counties. .Additional rainfall during the first half of this week may prolong this crest, or cause the river to rise again mid to late week.
What: Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
Where: Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S.
When: Until Thursday evening.
Impacts: At 12.5 feet, water affects old U.S. Highway 61 near the river.
Additional Details: - At 9:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 12.5 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to fall below flood stage late Thursday morning and continue falling through the weekend. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

Action Recommandée

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. The next statement will be issued by Wednesday morning at 1030 AM CDT.
