Description

Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Indiana Kankakee River at Shelby affecting Newton and Lake IN Counties. For the Kankakee River at ShelbyModerate flooding is forecasted.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecasted.
Where: Kankakee River from Near I-65 and De Motte downstream to IL/IN state line, including the Shelby gauge.
When: Until late Monday morning.
Impacts: At 11.5 feet, Low-lying residences are threatened along Bluegrass Road east of Sumava Resorts and along Westwood Drive and Island Boulevard near Shelby.
Additional Details: - At 9:45 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 11.2 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 11.5 feet Thursday morning. It is currently expected to fall below flood stage Monday morning. - Flood stage is 10.5 feet. - Flood HistoryThis crest compares to a previous crest of 11.4 feet on 05/08/1983. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
