An extended period of hot and humid conditions is expected acrosscentral Illinois through this week. Daily high temperatures in thelow to mid 90s with heat indices of 95 to 100 degrees starting thisafternoon, with Monday afternoon being the hottest with heat indicesreaching 100 to 105. This high heat and humidity may be hazardous forsensitive and vulnerable populations.If working outside this week, be sure to drink plenty of water, wearloose-fitting and light-colored clothing, and take frequent breaksin air-conditioned locations. Be sure to check on those mostvulnerable to heat, including children and the elderly, provideshade and fresh water for outdoor pets and livestock, and check thebackseat of your vehicle when transporting children.
