Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drivecars through flooded areas.Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize thedangers of flooding.Rainfall heavier than forecast could cause river levels to rise evenhigher than predicted. ...The Flood Warning continues for the following river in Missouri...Illinois...Mississippi River at Grafton.Mississippi River at Winfield.Mississippi River at Hannibal.Mississippi River at Louisiana.Mississippi River at Chester.Mississippi River at Saverton.Mississippi River at Clarksville.River forecasts are based on observed precipitation and forecastprecipitation for the next 24 hours.* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.* WHERE...Mississippi River at Hannibal.* WHEN...Until Wednesday, May 22.* IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, The northern end of Southside Recreation#2 Park along Bear Creek begins flooding at this height. Gatewells are shut down to prevent the sewers from backing up. Alsoat this level pumps are set to standby.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 8:15 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 17.4 feet.- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hoursending at 8:15 PM CDT Wednesday was 17.5 feet.- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.9feet early Friday afternoon. It will then fall below floodstage Monday evening.- Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
