Description

The dust storm which prompted the warning has weakened. Therefore, the dust storm warning will be allowed to expire at 5 pm. Areas of blowing dust with low visibility will continue at times with visibilites restricted to less than 1 mile at times. A blowing dust advisory continues until 6 pm.

Description

What: Areas of visibility between one quarter and one mile due to blowing dust.
Where: Much of central Illinois east of the Illinois River and north of I-70.
When: Until 6 PM CDT this evening.
Impacts: Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility.
Additional Details: Some rain fell south of I-72 during the morning, which may help keep the blowing dust risk lower in that area.

If you encounter blowing dust on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Remember, 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'.
