THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 304 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN ILLINOIS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 21 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS CHRISTIAN DE WITT LOGAN MACON MARSHALL MASON MCLEAN MENARD SANGAMON TAZEWELL WOODFORD IN EAST CENTRAL ILLINOIS CHAMPAIGN COLES DOUGLAS EDGAR MOULTRIE PIATT VERMILION IN WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS CASS MORGAN SCOTT THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BEARDSTOWN, BLOOMINGTON, CHAMPAIGN, CHARLESTON, CLINTON, DANVILLE, DECATUR, EUREKA, HAVANA, JACKSONVILLE, LACON, LINCOLN, MATTOON, MONTICELLO, NORMAL, PARIS, PEKIN, PETERSBURG, SPRINGFIELD, SULLIVAN, TAYLORVILLE, TUSCOLA, URBANA, AND WINCHESTER.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
Where: Portions of central and west central Illinois, including the following counties, in central Illinois, De Witt, Logan, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Menard, Peoria, Sangamon, Stark, Tazewell and Woodford. In west central Illinois, Cass, Fulton, Knox, Morgan, Schuyler and Scott.
When: Through Thursday morning.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Additional Details: - Two rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally heavy rain across portions of the watch area this afternoon through tonight. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Description

At 222 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Tiskilwa to Chillicothe to near Manito, moving east at 60 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. These severe storms will be near East Peoria, Morton, Lacon, Washington, Metamora, Germantown Hills, Henry, Tremont, Delavan, and Green Valley around 230 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include Mossville, Liverpool, North Pekin, Jubilee College State Park, Lake Wildwood, Banner, Smithville, Hopewell, Dillon, and Alta. This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 155 between mile markers 21 and 31. Interstate 474 between mile markers 0 and 14. Interstate 74 between mile markers 79 and 104.
