Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flooddeaths occur in vehicles.

Description

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.* WHERE...A portion of southwest Illinois, including the followingcounties, southwestern Madison and north central Saint Clair.* WHEN...Until 730 PM CDT.* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or isimminent.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...- At 428 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due tothunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to beginshortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rainhave fallen.- Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expectedover the area. This additional rain will result in minorflooding.- Some locations that will experience flooding include...Belleville, Granite City, O'Fallon, East St. Louis,Collinsville, Edwardsville, Fairview Heights, Swansea, GlenCarbon, Troy, Maryville, Pontoon Beach, Centreville,Caseyville, Washington Park, Madison, Venice, Fairmont City,Alorton and Hartford.
