Description

At 429 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles east of Southeast Arcadia to 8 miles south of St. James City. Movement was west at 25 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts up to 50 mph.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include Cape Coral, Fort Myers, North Port, Bonita Springs, Punta Gorda, Lehigh Acres, Port Charlotte, Palmona Park, Southwest Florida Airport, Harlem Heights, Lochmoor Waterway Estates, Babcock Webb Wma, Cypress Lake, McGregor, Babcock Ranch, Pine Manor, Matlacha Isles-Matlacha Shores, Olga, Pineland, and Buckingham.

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

When: From 11 AM this morning to 7 PM EDT this evening.
Impacts: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Action Recommandée

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

At 503 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Charlotte County Airport to 7 miles southeast of Punta Gorda, and are nearly stationary.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Punta Gorda, Solana, Port Charlotte, Harbour Heights, Charlotte Harbor, Charlotte Park, and Cleveland.
