THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 271 IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM CDT /10 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN MINNESOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN WEST CENTRAL MINNESOTA BIG STONE TRAVERSE IN SOUTH DAKOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 21 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA BUFFALO HAND HUGHES HYDE JONES LYMAN STANLEY SULLY IN NORTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA EDMUNDS FAULK MCPHERSON IN NORTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA BROWN CLARK CODINGTON DAY DEUEL GRANT HAMLIN MARSHALL ROBERTS SPINK THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ABERDEEN, BRITTON, CLARK, CLEAR LAKE, EUREKA, FAULKTON, FORT PIERRE, FORT THOMPSON, HAYTI, HIGHMORE, IPSWICH, KENNEBEC, MILBANK, MILLER, MURDO, ONIDA, ORTONVILLE, PIERRE, REDFIELD, SISSETON, WATERTOWN, WEBSTER, AND WHEATON.

Description

At 756 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Veblen, moving east at 25 mph.
Hazard: 70 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
Source: Public.
Impact: Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include Veblen, Sica Hollow State Park and Claire City.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM CDT for northeastern South Dakota. This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. This storm is producing widespread wind damage across northeastern Marshall Conty and northwestern Roberts County. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
