THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 377 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN COLORADO THIS WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL COLORADO EL PASO IN SOUTHEAST COLORADO BACA BENT CROWLEY KIOWA LAS ANIMAS OTERO PROWERS PUEBLO THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF COLORADO SPRINGS, EADS, LA JUNTA, LAMAR, LAS ANIMAS, OLNEY SPRINGS, ORDWAY, PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, PUEBLO, ROCKY FORD, SPRINGFIELD, TRINIDAD, AND WALSH.

Description

At 553 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Kim, or 35 miles northeast of Des Moines, moving southeast at 30 mph.
Hazard: Ping pong ball size hail and 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: People and animals outdoors will be injured. Expect hail damage to roofs, siding, windows, and vehicles. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Kim.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
