Description

The National Weather Service in Phoenix has issued a Flash Flood Warning for North Central Imperial County in southeastern California Riverside County in southern California Until 500 AM PDT. At 100 AM PDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Hazard: Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include North Shore, Bombay Beach and Imperial Hot Mineral Springs.

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.
Where: A portion of Southwest California, including the following areas, Apple and Lucerne Valleys, Coachella Valley, Riverside County Mountains, San Bernardino County Mountains, San Diego County Coastal Areas, San Diego County Deserts, San Diego County Mountains, San Diego County Valleys and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.
When: Through Sunday evening.
Impacts: Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Additional Details: - Post-Tropical Cyclone Rachel will bring periods of moderate to heavy rain to all of San Diego County, Riverside County mountains and deserts, and San Bernardino County mountains and deserts through late Sunday afternoon. Maximum hourly rainfall rates of 0.50 to 0.60 inches per hour are possible for San Diego Coast and Valleys. Maximum hourly rainfall rates of 0.50 to 0.70 inches per hour are possible across area deserts and 0.70 to 1 inch per hour rates are possible across area mountains. Heaviest rainfall is most likely through early Sunday afternoon. Rainfall will taper off from south to north Sunday. Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.
Additional Details: - At 1254 AM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.25 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.75 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Indio, northeastern Palm Springs, Coachella, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Desert Hot Springs, Rancho Mirage, Thermal and North Palm Springs. - https://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

What: West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
Where: Coachella Valley.
When: Until 5 AM PDT Monday.
Impacts: Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
