Description

What: Urban and small stream flooding caused by heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Where: Portions of central and northern California, including the following counties, Placer, Amador, Butte, El Dorado, Nevada, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba.
When: Until midnight PDT tonight.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways.
Additional Details: - At 641 PM PDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in the advisory area due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Sacramento, Elk Grove, Roseville, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Rocklin, Galt, Auburn, Grass Valley, Marysville, Placerville, Fair Oaks, El Dorado Hills, Carmichael, Cameron Park, Yuba City, Rancho Cordova, West Sacramento, Lincoln and Lake Of The Pines. - Including portions of Interstate 80, US Highway 50 and Highway 49 - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
