Description

What: Heat index values of 106 to 110 degrees expected.
Where: Portions of the Eastern Florida Panhandle, Florida Big Bend, and far Southwestern Georgia.
When: From noon EDT /11 AM CDT/ today to 6 PM EDT /5 PM CDT/ this evening.
Impacts: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

Action Recommandée

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Description

What: Dangerous rip currents.
Where: Walton, Bay, and West-facing Gulf County Beaches.
When: Through late tonight.
Impacts: Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
Additional Information: Onshore flow will become increasingly brisk today along the Walton, Bay, and West-facing Gulf County beaches, so the rip current risk will increase through the day.

Action Recommandée

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
