Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Portions of east central Georgia, including the following counties, Columbia and Richmond and central South Carolina, including the following counties, Aiken and Edgefield.
When: Until 1230 AM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 923 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 inch or more are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Augusta Metro Area, Fort Gordon, Hephzibah, Martinez - This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 520 in South Carolina between mile markers 16 and 21. Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 3. Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 192 and 201. Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 15. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown. Flooded roadways are nearly impossible to see at night. Avoid traveling in this area. Turn around, don't drown.
