Description

The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northwestern Meigs County in southeastern Ohio Northeastern Gallia County in southeastern Ohio Northeastern Jackson County in southeastern Ohio Eastern Vinton County in southeastern Ohio Southwestern Athens County in southeastern Ohio Until 1145 PM EDT. At 1113 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Lake Hope State Park to near Mcarthur to near Wellston, moving southeast at 25 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.

Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Athens, Wellston, Pomeroy, Albany, Rutland, Lake Hope State Park, Middleport, Zaleski, Vinton, Wilkesville, Creola, Radcliffe, Dyesville, Darwin, Salem Center, Harrisonville, Dexter, Kyger, Carpenter, and The Plains.

Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
