What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
Where: Central Athens County in southeastern Ohio
When: Until 800 AM EDT Tuesday.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.
Additional Details: - At 1049 PM EDT, emergency management reported numerous instances of flooding in the warned area with water still rising in some areas. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster, Chauncey, Buchtel, Jacksonville, Trimble, Amesville, Stroud Run State Park and The Plains. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
