Description

What: Minor Flooding along portions of the Little Blue River in Thayer and Nuckolls counties
Where: East Central Nuckolls County in south central Nebraska Northern Thayer County in south central Nebraska
When: Until 730 PM CDT Friday.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations continues.
Additional Details: - At 1104 PM CDT, automated river gauges continue to indicate that minor flooding is occurring along the Little Blue River as a result of heavy rainfall over the last few days. At 10:15 PM CDT, a gauge along the Little Blue River at Hebron reported a stage of 14.0 feet, which was 0.5 feet above the minor flood stage of 13.5 feet. As a result, minor flooding continues both upstream and downstream of Hebron along the Little Blue River through Thayer County. Since the river crested at 14.9 feet around 8AM Thursday morning, water levels have continued to gradually fall. Though water levels appear to be falling at the gauge site at Hebron, water levels upstream at the gauge site near Deshler, however, still continue to just barely rise. As of 10:45PM CDT, the upstream gauge near Deshler rests at 16.4 feet, just barely into the minor flood stage starting at 16 feet. It is uncertain how much water is still left to collect upstream, though recent water level increases have appeared to of substantially slowed. This leads us to believe that water levels may be soon to crest tonight. Minor flooding along the stretch of the Little Blue river across Thayer and Nuckolls county will be expected to continue on through the night and into a portion of the day Friday. - This includes the following streams and drainage
S: Dry Creek, South Fork Big Sandy Creek, Little Blue River, Little Sandy Creek, Oak Creek, Walnut Creek, Elk Creek, Turtle Creek, Spring Creek, Dry Sandy Creek and Big Sandy Creek. - Some locations that could experience flooding include Hebron, Davenport, Bruning, Alexandria, Carleton, Oak and Belvidere. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
