THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 295 IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT CDT TONIGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 8 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL KANSAS BARTON ELLSWORTH LINCOLN MCPHERSON RICE RUSSELL SALINE IN SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS RENO THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ELLSWORTH, GREAT BEND, HUTCHINSON, LINCOLN, LYONS, MCPHERSON, RUSSELL, SALINA, STERLING, SYLVAN GROVE, AND WILSON.

Description

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Kansa
S: Solomon River near Niles affecting Saline, Ottawa and Dickinson Counties.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
Where: Solomon River near Niles.
When: Until late Friday morning.
Impacts: At 19.0 feet, Water begins to overflow into the low portion of a cultivated field on the right bank, upstream, adjacent to the gage site. At 23.0 feet, Rural overflow begins around the community of Niles. At 24.0 feet, Low land flooding continues along the river. At 27.0 feet, Arrowhead Road west of Niles floods.
Additional Details: - At 7:30 PM CDT Tuesday the stage was 24.5 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 29.3 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late Thursday evening. - Flood stage is 24.0 feet.

Action Recommandée

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely. Description

At 1047 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles north of Kanopolis, moving northeast at 20 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include Lincoln, Beverly, Barnard, and Westfall. This includes Interstate 70 between Mile Markers 222 and 236.
