Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov/ind. The next statement should be issued Monday afternoon by around 1245 PM EDT /1145 AM CDT/.

Description

The Flood Warning is extended for the following river and locations in Indiana White River at Edwardsport, Spencer, below Eagle Valley Power Plant, and at Petersburg.
: The Flood Warning continues for the following river and locations in Indiana White River near Centerton and at Newberry. .Rainfall of up to ten plus inches last week from northwest Indiana to east central Indiana to southeast Indiana has brought widespread flooding to much of central and southern Indiana. All flooding in the "major" flood category along the White River has fallen to moderate flood stage. The crest is approaching Centerton and should reach it shortly after daybreak at a height of 17.7 feet. Flooding of this magnitude affects Blue Bluff and Paragon Roads and is close to flooding a few homes. Additional rain is possible overnight tonight, followed by decreasing clouds Monday and dry weather.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
Where: White River at Spencer.
When: Until Sunday, August 23.
Impacts: At 21.0 feet, Prospect Park area, western outskirts, and East Street begin to flood in Spencer.
Additional Details: - At 8:30 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 14.3 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 PM EDT Sunday was 14.3 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.5 feet Tuesday evening. Impacts: At 17.8 feet, Flood waters cover the flood plain along SR 39 connecting SRs 37 and 67 just southwest of Martinsville. Flooding causes the evacuation of a few homes and damages Blue Bluff Road near IPL Power Plant. Local river roads are impassable.
