The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in IndianaIllinoi
S: Wabash River at Covington down to Riverton. .Minor flooding of lowland
S: following widespread one and a half to four inches of rainfall Wednesday and Wednesday nightwill continue on the Wabash River from near Covington down to Riverton. The crest will pass Montezuma tonightand flooding will end at Covington early Saturday.
What: Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
Where: Wabash River at Riverton.
When: Until early Thursday afternoon.
Impacts: At 18.0 feet, Extensive lowland flooding is in progress. High water surrounds many river cabins. Access to most river cabins is by boat only. Levees begin to protect farmland. Extensive flooding of Leaverton Park occurs in Palestine, Illinois.
Additional Details: - At 10:00 PM EDT Friday /9:00 PM CDT Friday/ the stage was 16.7 feet. - Recent ActivityThe maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:00 PM EDT Friday /9:00 PM CDT Friday/ was 16.8 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 17.8 feet Monday evening. Impacts: At 19.5 feet, Water begins to rise in the Izaak Walton Lake. Sheet flowing water begins in the wetland project between U.S. 40 and I-70, and during a prolonged flood event project fills about 75 percent.
