What: For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 14 to 20 degrees. For the first Freeze Warning tonight through this morning, hard freezing temperatures as low as 22 to 27 degrees expected. For the second Freeze Warning Monday night, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 27 to 32 degrees expected.
Where: Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Brevard, Osceola, Indian River, Okeechobee, Saint Lucie, and inland Martin counties.
When: For the Extreme Cold Warning and first Freeze Warning, until 10 AM EST Monday. For the second Freeze Warning, from 11 PM Monday to 9 AM EST Tuesday.
Impacts: Dangerously cold wind chills tonight through early this morning could lead to frostbite and hypothermia, even with limited exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. Bring pets and potted plants indoors. Check on elderly neighbors to make sure their furnace is working. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they can be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly.
