Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.
Where: A portion of south central Virginia, including the following county, Halifax.
When: Until 530 AM EDT.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.
Additional Details: - At 255 AM EDT, water levels continue to recede this morning after 3 to locally 5.5 inches of rain fell within a short period of time on Monday evening, causing some roads to be impassible due to flooding. Flooding may still be occurring at low water crossings and in poor drainage areas, which would be difficult to see given the darkness. - Some locations that will experience flooding include South Boston, Halifax, Ingram and Scottsburg. - For flooding safety information, please visit http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
