Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay informed. Description

What: Dangerously hot conditions with peak heat index values ranging between 112-121F degrees is expected.
Where: All of Deep South Texas, excluding the island.
When: From noon to 7 PM CDT Friday.
Impacts: Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events.
Additional Details: While overnight heat indices will not meet Extreme Heat Warning or Heat Advisory criteria, there will be little relief from the heat. Heat indices are expected to remain above 90 degrees tonight. Continue to stay hydrated, use air conditioning when possible (or stay with a friend or family member who has air conditioning), and check on those who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
