Description

The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a Fire Weather Watch for dry and breezy conditions, which is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.
Winds: Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph gusting to 25 mph.
Relative Humidity: As low as 8 percent.
Temperatures: In the upper 90s.
Impacts: Any fires that develop will have the potential to spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will create favorable weather for rapid fire growth and spread. Avoid activities that promote open flames and sparks. A Fire Weather Watch means that the potential for critical fire weather conditions exists. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.

Description

At 731 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 6 miles west of Mescalero Park, or 6 miles northwest of Canyon, moving east at 30 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include Amarillo, Canyon, Lake Tanglewood, Mescalero Park, Umbarger, Palo Duro Canyon, and Timbercreek Canyon. This includes Interstate 27 between mile markers 103 and 119.

Action Recommandée

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
