Description

The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Medina County in south central Texa
S: Until midnight CDT tonight. At 356 PM CDT, emergency management reported widespread flooding across the warned area. Between 4 and 10 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing. Numerous roads are underwater and multiple water rescues have been reported.
Hazard: Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

Impact: Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Hondo, Devine, Castroville, Natalia, Lacoste, New Fountain, Quihi, Dunlay, D'Hanis, Bader, Biry, Yancey, Noonan, Rio Medina, Mico, Pearson, Hill Country State Natural Area, Cliff, Government Canyon State Natural Area and Lake Medina Shores.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
