THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 141 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN OKLAHOMA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 14 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL OKLAHOMA PONTOTOC IN SOUTHEAST OKLAHOMA ATOKA BRYAN COAL HUGHES JOHNSTON MARSHALL IN SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA CARTER GARVIN JEFFERSON LOVE MURRAY STEPHENS IN SOUTHWEST OKLAHOMA COTTON THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ADA, ARDMORE, ATOKA, COALGATE, DAVIS, DUNCAN, DURANT, HOLDENVILLE, KINGSTON, LINDSAY, MADILL, MARIETTA, PAULS VALLEY, RINGLING, RYAN, SULPHUR, TEMPLE, THACKERVILLE, TISHOMINGO, WALTERS, WAURIKA, WETUMKA, AND WYNNEWOOD.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Portions of east central and southeast Oklahoma, including the following counties, in east central Oklahoma, Pontotoc and Seminole. In southeast Oklahoma, Hughes.
When: Until 730 PM CDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 420 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Ada, Konawa, Byng, Allen, Francis and Sasakwa. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Action Recommandée

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
