What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall earlier this morning continues.
Where: Gallia County in southeastern Ohio Southern Meigs County in southeastern Ohio Southeastern Vinton County in southeastern Ohio Northwestern Jackson County in northwestern West Virginia Mason County in western West Virginia Northwestern Putnam County in western West Virginia
When: Until 700 PM EDT.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems.
Additional Details: - At 344 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms earlier this morning. Flooding is ongoing in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall is expected tonight. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Point Pleasant, Gallipolis, Rio Grande, Racine, Ravenswood, New Haven, Gallia, Middleport, Hartford City, Henderson, Vinton, Leon, Wilkesville, Cheshire, Adamsville, Gallopolis Ferry, Lakin, Kyger, Letart, and Southside. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
