Description

What: Flooding caused by prior excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Central Athens County in southeastern Ohio
When: Until 1100 PM EDT.
Impacts: Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring.
Additional Details: - At 904 PM EDT, emergency management reported high water in a few locations across the warned area due to prior heavy rainfall. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain fell earlier. - In addition, Sunday Creek at Glouster was in Minor Flood Stage at 14.0 feet. Flood Stage is 13 feet. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Athens, Nelsonville, Glouster, Chauncey, Buchtel, Jacksonville, Trimble, Amesville, Stroud Run State Park and The Plains. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
