SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 441, PREVIOUSLY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT /MIDNIGHT MDT/ EARLY THIS MORNING, IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM CDT /2 AM MDT/ EARLY THIS MORNING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN NORTH DAKOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST NORTH DAKOTA BURKE DIVIDE MCKENZIE MOUNTRAIL WILLIAMS IN SOUTHWEST NORTH DAKOTA BILLINGS DUNN GOLDEN VALLEY STARK THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BEACH, BOWBELLS, COLUMBUS, CROSBY, DICKINSON, FAIRFIELD, HALLIDAY, KILLDEER, LIGNITE, MEDORA, NEW TOWN, PARSHALL, PORTAL, POWERS LAKE, STANLEY, WATFORD CITY, AND WILLISTON.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Northwestern Billings County in southwestern North Dakota
When: Until 515 AM MDT Friday.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 1108 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Elkhorn State Natural Area. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Action Recommandée

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
