Description

What: Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 22 expected. The areas near the river in the Bitterroot Valley could be as low as 15 degrees. There is a 80 percent chance for a hard freeze from Missoula to the Bitterroot Valley Saturday morning.
Where: Missoula/Bitterroot Valleys.
When: From midnight tonight to 8 AM MDT Sunday.
Impacts: Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation. Possible damage to unprotected outdoor plumbing and irrigation systems with the hard freeze(temperatures in the lower 20s or colder).
Additional Details: For Saturday morning, the combination of patchy cloud cover and light easterly winds through Hellgate Canyon could prevent the coldest temperatures from occurring on these areas. For Sunday morning, the easterly winds could be a little bit stronger in Missoula proper and portions of the northern Bitterroot Valley which may help keep temperatures milder, but areas outside of the wind could be colder. Additional frosts or freezes are possible through Wednesday.
