Critical Fire Weather Conditions Expected Today: .Warm, dry, and breezy weather today will lead to critical fire weather conditions over western Upper Michigan. Southwest winds between 10 to 20 mph will gust of 30 to 35 mph. Meanwhile, temperatures climb into the low 80s with minimum relative humidities near 20 percent. This environment is favorable for rapid fire growth and spread. The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening.
Affected Area: Fire Weather Zone 005 Marquette, Fire Weather Zone 006 Alger, Fire Weather Zone 011 Dickinson, Fire Weather Zone 012 Menominee, Fire Weather Zone 013 Delta, Fire Weather Zone 014 Southern Schoolcraft and Fire Weather Zone 085 Northern Schoolcraft.
Timing: From Saturday morning through Saturday evening.
Winds: Northwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Relative Humidity: As low as 19 percent.
Impacts: Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
