Description

The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Michigan Michigamme River near Crystal Falls (Michigamme) affecting Iron County. Michigamme River near Witch Lake affecting Dickinson and Marquette Counties. Michigamme River near Republic affecting Marquette County. .Snowmelt resulting in rivers reaching critical levels.
What: Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record.
Where: Michigamme River near Witch Lake.
When: Until further notice.
Impacts: At 8.0 feet, Water inundates low lying areas along the river in Republic and South Republicand will impact the yards of homes near Bengtson bridge on County Road LI in South Republic At 8.5 feet, Water begins to cover County Road LG 2.6 miles northwest of M-95 At 9.0 feet, Water impacts the yards and a few homes near Bengtson bridge on County Road LI in South Republic and along Floodwood Drive near the Michigamme River east of M-95. Approximately 6 inches of water is covering portions of County Road LG northwest of M-95 At 11.0 feet, Flood waters cover significant portions of County Road LG between M-95 and Michigamme Dam. Houses near Bengtson Bridge in South Republic are further impacted by flood waters At 13.0 feet, Homes in Republic near Munson ParkSouth Republic near Bengtson Bridgeand Witch Lake are significantly flooded. Significant portions of County Roads 601

The National Weather Service in Marquette has issued a Flood Advisory for the following rivers in Michigan East Branch Escanaba River at Gwinn affecting Marquette County.
: The Flood Advisory is replaced by a River Flood Warning for the following rivers in Michigan Middle Branch Escanaba River at Humboldt affecting Marquette County.
What: Elevated river levels caused by rain and snowmelt are occurring.
Where: East Branch Escanaba River at Gwinn.
When: From this afternoon to early Monday morning.
Impacts: At 7.0 feet, Low lying areas of Peter Nordeen Park begin to flood
Additional Details: - Latest observation was 5.97 feet at 12:00 PM EDT Wednesday, April 22. - Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise to a crest of 6.7 feet tomorrow morning. - Action stage is 6.5 feet. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - www.weather.gov/safety/flood
