THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 205 IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT SATURDAY FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN IOWA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 11 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST IOWA BUENA VISTA CHEROKEE CLAY DICKINSON LYON O'BRIEN OSCEOLA PLYMOUTH SIOUX IN WEST CENTRAL IOWA IDA WOODBURY IN MINNESOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA JACKSON NOBLES IN NEBRASKA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN NORTHEAST NEBRASKA DAKOTA DIXON IN SOUTH DAKOTA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH DAKOTA CLAY UNION THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ALCESTER, ALLEN, ARNOLDS PARK, BATTLE CREEK, BERESFORD, CHEROKEE, ELK POINT, GEORGE, HARTLEY, HAWARDEN, HOLSTEIN, HULL, IDA GROVE, INWOOD, JACKSON, JEFFERSON, LAKEFIELD, LARCHWOOD, LE MARS, MILFORD, NORTH SIOUX CITY, ORANGE CITY, PONCA, ROCK RAPIDS, ROCK VALLEY, SANBORN, SHELDON, SIBLEY, SIOUX CENTER, SIOUX CITY, SOUTH SIOUX CITY, SPENCER, SPIRIT LAKE, STORM LAKE, VERMILLION, WAKEFIELD, AND WORTHINGTON.

Description

At 741 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Cushing, or 9 miles northwest of Ida Grove, moving east at 40 mph.
Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and half dollar size hail.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. This severe storm will be near Ida Grove, Holstein, and Galva around 745 PM CDT.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency. They will send your report to the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls.
