Description

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Southern Polk County in central Iowa Until 700 AM CDT. At 101 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, especially in low lying areas.
Hazard: Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Impact: Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Des Moines, West Des Moines, Ankeny, Urbandale, Johnston, Clive, Altoona, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill, Grimes, Windsor Heights, Carlisle, Bondurant, Saylorville, Mitchellville, Iowa State Fairgrounds, Iowa Events Center, Principal Park, Drake Stadium And Knapp Center and Adventureland Amusement Park.

Description

The National Weather Service in Des Moines IA has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Iowa Fourmile Creek at Des Moines Easton Blvd affecting Polk County.
What: Moderate flooding is forecast.
Where: The Fourmile Creek at Des Moines Easton Blvd, or from below Interstate 80 to the Des Moines River.
When: From early this morning to this evening.
Impacts: At 16.0 feet, Water affects businesses and apartments east of E 33rd St near E Douglas AveE Euclid Ave and Hubbell Ave.
Additional Details: - At 12:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 3.8 feet. - ForecastThe river is expected to rise above flood stage early this morning to a crest of 15.5 feet late this morning. It will then fall below flood stage this afternoon. - Flood stage is 12.5 feet.
