What: Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Portions of east central Georgia, including the following counties, Columbia, Lincoln, McDuffie and Richmond and central South Carolina, including the following counties, Aiken, Edgefield, McCormick and Saluda.
When: Until 645 PM EDT.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Additional Details: - At 447 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include North Augusta, Grovetown, Evans, Martinez, Edgefield, Harlem, Johnston, Ridge Spring, Clarks Hill Recreation Area, J. Strom Thurmond Dam, Hamilton Branch State Park, Riverwood, Village Plaza Shopping Center, Augusta Mall, Edgefield County Airport, Appling, Mistletoe State Park, Trenton, Parksville and Ward. - This includes the following highway
S: Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 0 and 1. Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 178 and 201. Interstate 520 in Georgia near mile marker 1. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don't drown.
