THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 673 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MDT /10 PM CDT/ THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN COLORADO THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL COLORADO CHEYENNE KIT CARSON IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 4 COUNTIES IN WEST CENTRAL KANSAS GREELEY LOGAN WALLACE WICHITA THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ARAPAHOE, BURLINGTON, CHEYENNE WELLS, LEOTI, OAKLEY, SHARON SPRINGS, AND TRIBUNE.

Description

What: Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
Where: Northern Cheyenne County in east central Colorado Kit Carson County in east central Colorado
When: Until 300 AM MDT Monday.
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable.
Additional Details: - At 823 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen today. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include Burlington, Stratton, Flagler, Seibert, Bethune and Vona.

Action Recommandée

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
