Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure’s Hydrologic Forecast Centre advises that strong winds developing this evening and persisting through Monday afternoon may result in high wind effects and the risk of ice pileup along the south basin of Lake Manitoba as well as Lake Winnipeg shorelines, including Gimli on the west side and Victoria Beach on the east side. Northwest wind gusts up to 70 km/h may lead to ice pileup along exposed shorelines.
Property owners in these areas are advised to take appropriate precautions. Follow all direction from local authorities. A map of the Manitoba Lakes wind effect forecast, including the areas at risk, is available at:
