THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 425 IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN TEXAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 12 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST TEXAS BAILEY COCHRAN FLOYD HALE HOCKLEY LAMB LUBBOCK IN THE PANHANDLE OF TEXAS BRISCOE CASTRO HALL PARMER SWISHER THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF AMHERST, BOVINA, DIMMITT, FARWELL, FLOYDADA, FRIONA, HALE CENTER, HAPPY, HART, LEVELLAND, LITTLEFIELD, LOCKNEY, LUBBOCK, MEMPHIS, MORTON, MULESHOE, OLTON, PLAINVIEW, QUITAQUE, SILVERTON, SLATON, SUNDOWN, TULIA, TURKEY, WHITEFACE, AND WOLFFORTH.

Description

At 928 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 10 miles east of Hart to 7 miles north of Abernathy to near Lubbock, moving east at 20 mph.
Hazard: 70 mph wind gusts.

Impact: Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include Lubbock, Plainview, Slaton, Abernathy, Hale Center, Olton, Hart, Wolfforth, Shallowater, Idalou, Lockney, Petersburg, Anton, Ransom Canyon, Kress, Cotton Center, Spade, Claytonville, Lubbock South Plains Mall, and Aiken.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
