SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 426, PREVIOUSLY IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM CDT /1 AM MDT/ EARLY THIS MORNING, IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM CDT /3 AM MDT/ EARLY THIS MORNING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN NEBRASKA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 23 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL NEBRASKA CUSTER IN NORTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA BLAINE BOYD BROWN CHERRY GARFIELD HOLT KEYA PAHA LOUP ROCK THOMAS WHEELER IN SOUTHWEST NEBRASKA CHASE FRONTIER HAYES KEITH LINCOLN PERKINS IN WEST CENTRAL NEBRASKA ARTHUR GRANT HOOKER LOGAN MCPHERSON THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF AINSWORTH, ARTHUR, ATKINSON, BARTLETT, BASSETT, BREWSTER, BROKEN BOW, BURWELL, BUTTE, CHAMPION, CURTIS, DUNNING, ENDERS, ERICSON, EUSTIS, GRANT, HALSEY, HAYES CENTER, HYANNIS, IMPERIAL, LYNCH, MAYWOOD, MULLEN, NORTH PLATTE, O'NEILL, OGALLALA, PAXTON, PURDUM, RINGGOLD, ROSE, SPENCER, SPRINGVIEW, STAPLETON, TAYLOR, THEDFORD, TRYON, VALENTINE, AND WAUNETA.

Description

At 154 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking outflow from thunderstorms along a line extending from 9 miles southwest of Atkinson to 10 miles west of Amelia to near Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area. Movement was east at 50 mph.
Hazard: Wind gusts up to 40 mph.
Source: Radar indicated.
Impact: Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include O'Neill, Chambers, Amelia, Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area, Inman, Emmet, Virginia Smith Dam, Hannamon Bayou Campground, Carson Lake, Sunfish Lake, Homestead Knolls Campground, Opportunity, Nunda Shoal Campground, Deverre, Valley View Flat Campground, and Gables. This includes the following highway
S: Highway 183 between mile markers 128 and 135. Highway 20 between mile markers 291 and 321. Highway 281 between mile markers 155 and 193.

Action Recommandée

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Persons in campgrounds around Calamus Reservoir should consider seeking sturdy shelter until these winds subside. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 400 AM CDT for north central Nebraska.

Description

At 202 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near St. Charles to 9 miles southwest of Butte to 10 miles south of Atkinson, moving east at 60 mph.
Hazard: 70 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
Source: At 200 AM CDT, an automated weather station recorded a 77 mile per hour wind gust 2 miles west of Naper.
Impact: Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include O'Neill, Spencer, Atkinson, Stuart, Butte, Lynch, Naper, Gross, Bristow, Emmet, Dustin, Anoka, Monowi, Scottville, Hull Lake State Wildlife Management Area, Redbird State Wildlife Management Area, Opportunity, Spencer Dam, Midway, and Dorsey. This includes the following highway
S: Highway 20 between mile markers 275 and 311. Highway 281 between mile markers 181 and 223. Highway 12 between mile markers 87 and 144.
